The Secondary and High Schools Competition
The Central Bank pf Eswatini, Swaziland Bankers Association, Centre for Financial Inclusion and Junior Achievement (JA) will be conducting a secondary and high schools’ competition, as part of on-going efforts to provide financial education to the youth. Schools that will participate under all four regions in the country in the competition are the ones affiliated with JA. It is a public speaking competition on the topic “My savings, my future.” The aim is to ensure the youth know the importance of saving from an early age towards building for a better future. The competition will be in two-fold; at regional and national level. The competition will be held from 17 – 20 September 2018 for the regionals where two winning schools will be picked from each region, and compete at the national competition for the main prizes on a date yet to be confirmed.
Proposed Prizes
We propose that complimentary prizes like certificates and t-shirts be distributed during the regional competition to the winners. At national level, we anticipate prizes to be as follows:
Position 1: A computer and printer for the school, smart tablets for the 3 participating learners with bank accounts from a bank of their choice with E1000-00 each.
Position 2: A computer for the school, smart tablets only for the 3 participating learners and with bank accounts from a bank of their choice with E500-00 each.
Position 3: Smart cellphones for the 3 participating learners and certificates.
We also anticipate distributing small tokens of appreciation to the teachers from all the participating schools who will help learners prepare for the competition for their efforts. This will be a branded flask.
